Who I am
My name is Philippa Dunn and I founded The Competitive Edge in 2025. I am a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training (SEPiT) with the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES).
My sporting background includes county level hockey, competitive football, cricket, rugby union and golf, while enjoying social tennis, badminton, padel, running, cycling, paddleboarding and swimming.
I have a professional background in data analysis and marketing before completing a BSc in Psychology and Counselling with The Open University and a MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology at UWE.
As a passionate sport afficionado, I understand the importance of the small fine margins which can provide athletes, teams and organisations with a competitive edge. I whole-heartedly believe and have seen how sport psychology can do this for you.
I work with elite and amateur athletes of all ages to collaboratively overcome individual or team barriers to success, and implement effective strategies allowing you to reach your performance goals.
I adopt an ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) philosophy, where we collaboratively work to ensure you are open, centred and engaged in your sport, creating committed action towards your personal values. I understand you are the expert of your lived experiences and through a working alliance I am motivated to help you achieve your desired results.
